The Client is one of the leading audiovisual media companies with extensive experience in the technical coverage of conferences and events.
Purpose
Our client took responsibility for the organization of the press center of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The client was looking for a subcontractor who would provide all IT equipment, be responsible for system integration and provide fast and reliable technical support during the conference. The requirements of this responsibility were:
- Providing high-speed internet connection, with an alternative connection.
- Providing a secure internet connection for all participants
- Fast installation of 170 PCs, with MS Office installed and 30 laser printers.
- Technical support for all IT equipment
For the selection of iBS as the chosen company for the supply, installation and technical coverage of the IT equipment, its proposal had to meet the following specifications:
- Highly efficient servers, one as active server and the other as backup
- Cisco router for connection with leased line and 8 ISDN lines as backup connection
- UPS power for all server and router devices
- Expert support team with good international communication skills
Solution
With the goal of immediate installation of all IT equipment in the solution structure (within two days), iBS engineers followed the following policies:
- Disk image via Acronis OS for workstations so they can be initialized quickly and securely.
- Multiple operating scenarios for all possible system or user failure cases.
- Special tests for every potential network security threat that could appear.
To crown the project a success, a reference point was the ability of the working group to "look at the system through the eyes of the user", meaning the clarification of the role of users, machines and devices used to access the system as well as to user behavior and customer business processes are taken into account. Effectively dealing with multiple challenges, iBS engineers contributed to such efforts and challenges as the Client enjoyed the ultimate success of networking all participants in this huge networking event held in Athens and Thessaloniki in 2003.
